Verify Tank 300 software updates by VIN, original market and fitted modules. Separate supported workshop updates from apps, maps and unofficial files.
Define the fault or missing function first
Write down the actual complaint: an unstable phone connection, a warning, a missing language, a map issue or a workshop campaign. Record when it occurs and what the seller has already tried. Do not turn every equipment difference into a software defect. The infotainment and ADAS compatibility guide helps identify what is actually fitted. An imported vehicle may have hardware or account limitations that an update cannot remove. Require the seller to distinguish a demonstrated repair from a promise that a future download will add a function. This prevents an open support question from being disguised as a minor handover task.
Record the installed version and market identity
Ask a qualified workshop to identify the relevant module, software version and VIN applicability using supported methods. Where a version is visible through the normal settings menu, preserve a photograph with the inspection file. Do not request security credentials or confidential workshop access data. Confirm original market and production information through the versions and model-year guide. Two cars with the same registration year may use different hardware or production changes. A version number without a module name is weak evidence, and a newer-looking number is not proof that it is suitable. The support provider should explain what information is needed to confirm the update path.
Obtain a supported procedure rather than a file link
Ask the responsible representative whether an update applies, what it addresses and what conditions are required. Establish whether work must occur at a workshop or through a supported owner process. Do not install unverified files, cross-market firmware or a package selected from an online discussion. A failed attempt can create additional diagnosis, recovery and transport costs. The 12V battery and accessory-load checks are relevant when the procedure requires a stable electrical supply, but the workshop must determine the correct preparation. A seller should not improvise that preparation or use a reset merely to make warnings disappear before the buyer arrives.
Keep apps and ownership permissions separate
The GWM app is a connected-service product, not a universal vehicle firmware updater. Regional compatibility information does not establish that a China VIN can enrol abroad. Confirm the original account, lawful transfer process, local network requirements and functions supported at the destination. Use the keys and account handover assessment for that separate decision. A functioning infotainment display may coexist with unavailable remote services. Likewise, a working app on the seller’s phone does not prove that the buyer can register it. Do not promise remote locking, tracking or other features until the relevant provider confirms the actual vehicle and account arrangement.
Retest the reported issue after the work
Request a dated invoice or service record identifying the VIN, affected system and performed action. Record the version where appropriate and repeat the original operating conditions. Test relevant cameras, settings, phone functions and warnings that may have been affected, without provoking unsafe driver-assistance demonstrations. A generic statement that everything was updated is not a useful repair record. The inspection checklist provides the broader function-test boundary. If the original problem is intermittent, acknowledge the observation period and any remaining uncertainty. An improvement during one brief visit is not evidence that every region-dependent function will operate after export.
Choose the candidate with a workable support route
Compare the purchase saving with the realistic cost of diagnosis, supported updating and downtime. Ask whether the destination workshop can work on the actual original-market configuration and what happens if a required update is unavailable there. Complete necessary work before shipping where the commercial scope and provider permit it. Keep any unresolved limitation in the quotation rather than replacing it with an assurance that software is easy. A slightly older version with verified stable operation can be more practical than an unsupported modification advertised as an upgrade. The purchase needs dependable functions and accountable support, not the highest version number in a screenshot.
Evidence to collect
- Specific complaint and affected system
- VIN, market and module-version record
- Confirmed authorised update route
- Separate app and account eligibility response
- Documented work and repeat function test

Can another market’s update package be assumed compatible?
No. The support provider must establish VIN, module, hardware and market applicability before any update.
Does a working GWM app prove all software is current?
No. Connected-service access and individual vehicle-module versions are different questions and require separate evidence.
